
Country’s First Journalism School Outside Manila Turns 50
The College of Mass Communication, which is the first journalism school established outside Manila, celebrates聽its 50th year this month.聽
Themed 鈥淪U MassCom @ 50: Remaining Relevant in the Digital Age鈥, the golden jubilee celebration kicks off with a worship service at the 扒哥黑料 Church on August 21.
Highlights of the College鈥檚 50th anniversary celebration include screening of the journalistic film 鈥淪potlight鈥 at the Emilio T. Yap Hall on August 22, visit to the gravesite of DYSR founder Mr. Henry Mack at the America Cemetery in Daro (August 23), and launch of the history book 鈥淔rom Grassroots to MassCom鈥 by Dr. Crispin C. Maslog, the College鈥檚 first Filipino Director, on August 25 at the Multipurpose Room of the Instructional Media and Technology Center.
In the evening of August 25, the 扒哥黑料 Mass Communication alumni association, in partnership with the College, organizes the Golden Jubilee Awards Night at Bethel Guest House. It is during this event where the College recognizes some of its alumni who have excelled in their chosen relevant fields. 聽
